Title and Authority
Job Title: Inside Parts Sales
Reports To: This role reports directly to the Parts Operations Manager. This role has no direct reports.
General Description of the Role
The position is a key role in supporting the outside sales team with completing sales of equipment part products, as well as ensuring walk-in and phone customer’s needs are being met in accordance with our company standards.
Role Accountabilities
- Accurately taking part orders and understanding the clients needs.
- Efficiently ordering parts and providing lead times to clients.
- Meeting or exceeding customer service and parts sales targets.
- Successfully building and maintaining excellent client relationships.
- Maintaining data integrity of parts inventory within our ERP system.
- Provide timely support to the outside sales team by creating quotes, purchase orders, and finalizing customer transactions as requested
- Develop a strong understanding of our product lines to be able to engage with customers and promote, recommend, and sell company products and services.
- Train workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
- Supervise and train employees, lead and direct the work of others
Specific Tasks
- Assist customers in-person, over the phone, and by email with completing purchases, inquiries regarding availability and pricing, and product recommendations.
- Maintain strong relationships with current customers.
- Manage inventory levels and make purchases according to inventory control practices.
- Work with the Branch Manager to develop and meet sales targets.
- Occasionally provide afterhours support to customers.
- Entering sales in Excel and generating reports when required.
- Participating in annual inventory counts.
- Follow up with clients to provide lead times for parts ordered.
- Follow up with clients to provide solutions to any issues or concerns.
- Processing returns.
- Research prices, service and delivery times and keep up to date on service levels.
- Assist with sourcing and evaluating suppliers.
- Gain a knowledge of the warehouse layout and procedures and assist with warehouse operations as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
- Fluent in English both written and oral.
- Able to work effectively and productively without close supervision.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Proficient with computers generally and the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Someone with excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Extremely detail oriented and consistently produce quality work.
- Able to provide excellent customer service to all clients, customers, and vendors.
- Be able to mentor and coach direct reports.
- Be able to contribute to improvements in the process or the product.
- Be able to understand aggregate equipment and parts.
- Have a technical or mechanical aptitude.
Required experience - you have:
- GED or High School Diploma.
- Excellent computer skills; especially in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook.
- A flexible and adaptable team player who is service oriented.
- Experience using an ERP or CRM (Customer Relations Management) system
- Worked in a manufacturing or aggregate equipment industry.
- A college or university diploma/degree, or other post-secondary qualifications.
