Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating laser cutting equipment to produce precise components, ensuring high-quality standards are met. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and familiarity with various manufacturing tools and machinery. The Laser Operator plays a critical part in the production process, contributing to efficient workflow and product excellence.
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to cut metal and other materials according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine cutting parameters.
- Program CNC laser equipment using CNC programming skills to ensure accurate cuts.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration on laser machinery to maintain optimal performance.
- Conduct quality inspections of finished parts using calipers, measurement tools, and visual checks.
- Assist with material handling using cranes, forklifts, or hand tools as needed for loading and unloading raw materials or finished products.
- Troubleshoot machine issues, including plasma cutting, press brake operations, CNC milling machines, or CNC lathes when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and best practices in manufacturing.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly processes when required to meet production goals.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC laser cutting machines; familiarity with CNC programming is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of other manufacturing equipment such as plasma cutters, press brake machines, CNC mills, lathes, welding equipment, and hand tools.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining processes.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools such as calipers for quality inspection.
- Experience with material handling equipment including cranes and forklifts is a plus.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, quality standards, and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
