Marvelous by Fred (Aux Merveilleux de Fred in French, its original & legal name) is a very famous pâtisserie that was born in France in 1995 and that has nearly 60 shops around the world today. We opened our first location on Queen St W in April 2020 and we are opening a new shop in 2 weeks!
We are looking for a part-time or full-time Pastry Chef for our Bloor West Village location.
As a Pastry Chef, you will be a key role in the making of our signature desserts.
Here will be your responsibilities and your duties :
- Prepare and cook the meringue following Chef Vaucamp's special recipe
- Prepare all the different flavoured whipped cream for our Marvelous cakes according to special recipes and methods
- Assemble in a very fast way and technique the cakes made of meringue and whipped cream
- Prepare special orders
- Operate machinery (professional mixers, use of ovens)
- Decorate cakes
- Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards
- Provision of supplies
- Draw up production schedules
- Other related duties (such as keeping an organized environment and cleaning of the lab)
REQUIREMENTS
- You would be given a trial where you will be evaluated on your agility and dexterity.
- To have completed a course / degree in bakery
- To have at least one year of experience working in bakeries
- Food handlers certification is an asset
- To be able to plan and organize the production on your own
- To know health regulations as to cleanliness
- A passion for baking and enjoying the team work
- Must be independent in your duties and problem solving
- Lifting weight up to 15kg
- Must be able to work weekends
