We are looking for an organized individual to join our corporate accounting team and help keep our financial records accurate and up to date.
Position overview
We are seeking a structured and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to work a stable, reduced schedule of 30 to 32 hours per week. This entry-level role is perfect for someone looking to launch a career in accounting. You will be responsible for overseeing the receiving and processing of operating and inventory invoices and verifying proper backup & authorization, as well as processing weekly cheque runs on a timely basis.
Job duties
- Controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling operating and inventory invoices.
- Matches inventory invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.
- Processes payments for invoices via cheques, web banking and electronic funds transfers on a scheduled basis.
- Processes employee expense claims by ensuring complete backup & authorization.
- Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
- Reconciles GL accounts by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Communicates with vendors/suppliers regarding outstanding invoices, credits and responds to all vendor inquiries.
- Maintains historical records of all invoices, reports, receipts, and cheques by saving or filing the documents properly.
- Prepares Accounts Payable related reconciliations and reports as directed by the Financial Controller.
- Handles other Accounts Payable and administrative duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma required; post-secondary courses in accounting or related education are a plus
- 1-3 years of experience in an administrative, clerical or accounting role within an office setting
- Strong attention to detail & high accuracy in data entry
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (& other MS Office software) and experience using ERP systems and/or Accounting software
Additional Details
- This position is fully onsite at 1330 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg MB
- 30-32 hours per week (flexible)
- Monday to Thursday or Monday to Friday
