Food Hampers Coordinator

Cowichan Valley Basket Society is seeking a Food Hampers Coordinator to help oversee daily food hamper operations, food recovery, warehouse flow, food storage, and safety.
This position works under the direction of the Executive Director and is part of the CVBS leadership team. The Coordinator provides day-to-day support to assigned staff and volunteers and helps ensure food is received, sorted, stored, and distributed in a safe, respectful, and efficient way.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily food hamper operations.
- Support food recovery, receiving, sorting, storage, and inventory flow.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and food storage areas.
- Monitor food quality, rotation, supplies, and equipment needs.
- Provide day-to-day support and direction to assigned staff and volunteers.
- Help train volunteers in safe and consistent procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and other coordinators.
- Bring staffing, safety, facility, or operational concerns to the Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Experience in food bank, warehouse, food service, social service, nonprofit, or related work.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work respectfully with guests, volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners.
- Ability to support staff and volunteers in a busy team environment.
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract, or willingness to provide one if required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb / 23 kg.
- FoodSafe and First Aid are assets or willingness to obtain.
- Commitment to food safety, workplace safety, confidentiality, and respectful service.
Working Conditions
This role includes warehouse work, food handling, volunteer support, and guest service. It may involve standing, bending, lifting, moving food and supplies, and assisting with food recovery as needed.

Pay: $23.50-$25.00 per hour
