Key Responsibilities:
Dishwashing and Cleaning:
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using manual or automated dishwashing methods.
- Clean and disinfect workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas.
- Ensure the kitchen is always clean and organized to meet hygiene standards.
Food Preparation Support:
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Set up workstations and ensure all necessary ingredients and tools are ready for meal preparation.
- Prepare simple menu items under supervision, such as salads or garnishes.
Inventory and Stock Management:
- Help unpack, organize, and store deliveries of food and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or expired items to the supervisor.
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
Waste Management:
- Dispose of kitchen waste, including recycling and composting, in a timely and environmentally friendly manner.
- Maintain cleanliness in garbage disposal areas.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain kitchen appliances and equipment, such as ovens, grills, and blenders, as instructed.
- Notify the supervisor of any equipment malfunctions or needed repairs.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines to ensure a safe kitchen environment.
- Wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and aprons, as required.
- Assist in emergency situations, such as spills or fire hazards, by following established protocols.
Team Support:
- Work closely with chefs, cooks, and other staff to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently.
- Step into various roles as needed during peak hours, such as assisting with plating or order preparation.
Skills & Qualifications:
Physical Stamina:
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to Detail:
- Maintain cleanliness and ensure food preparation follows quality standards.
Teamwork:
- Work effectively as part of a team to support kitchen operations.
Adaptability:
- Understanding of kitchen safety and hygiene practices.
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is a plus but not required.
