Titan Pallets Inc. is a newly launched pallet manufacturing company based in Fort Erie, Ontario. We produce high-quality wood pallets for industrial, retail, and distribution customers. We are a growing company with a strong team culture, competitive wages, and real opportunities to advance as we expand.
The Role:
This is a foundational HR role. You will be the first dedicated HR professional at Ontario Pallet Co., which means you are not inheriting someone else's system — you are building ours. From onboarding and compliance to performance management and workforce planning, you will own the people function end to end and report directly to the Director of Operations.
This role suits someone who is equally comfortable handling the tactical day-to-day of a small manufacturing operation and thinking strategically about what the people function needs to look like as we scale to multiple facilities across Canada and the U.S.
What You'll Be Doing:
-Recruitment & Onboarding
-Own the full recruitment cycle for all roles — from job posting through offer letter — working closely with department heads to define hiring needs.
-Conduct structured onboarding for every new hire including safety orientation, policy manual acknowledgment, and 30/60/90-day check-ins.
-Build and maintain a talent pipeline for high-turnover roles, particularly warehouse labour, so we are never scrambling to fill a vacancy.
-Compliance & Employment Law
Ensure all HR practices are in full compliance with the Ontario -Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Human Rights Code, WSIB requirements, and AODA obligations
-Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, contracts, and documentation.
-Manage WSIB claims, return-to-work programs, and modified duty arrangements
-Stay current on legislative changes and proactively update policies and procedures as required.
-Payroll & Benefits Administration
-Process or oversee semi-monthly or bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, including proper handling of statutory deductions, vacation pay, and overtime under ESA.
-Administer employee benefits programs and serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions.
Maintain accurate time and attendance records in coordination with department supervisors.
-Performance & Employee Relations
Support managers in conducting probationary reviews, annual performance reviews, and mid-year check-ins
-Provide guidance to supervisors on handling performance issues, conflict resolution, and progressive discipline in compliance with ESA and company policy
-Serve as a neutral, trusted resource for employees raising workplace concerns
Manage terminations with care, documentation, and full legal compliance
-Culture & Retention
-Champion a safe, respectful, and accountable workplace culture
-Monitor attendance, turnover, and engagement indicators and bring forward recommendations when trends warrant action.
-Coordinate safety training, WHMIS certification, and forklift certification scheduling in conjunction with the Production Manager.
-Organize recognition initiatives and team communications that reinforce company values.
-Scaling the Function
-As the company expands to new provinces and the U.S., adapt HR policies for each jurisdiction's regulatory requirements — Alberta OHS Code, WorkSafeBC, and relevant U.S. state and federal employment law
-Build the HR infrastructure — templates, processes, and systems — that can be replicated efficiently at every new facility we open or acquire
What We're Looking For:
Required:
-Minimum 2 years of HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment
-Solid working knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, OHSA, WSIB processes, and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
-Experience managing full-cycle recruitment and employee onboarding
Hands-on payroll administration experience
-Strong written and verbal communication skills — you will be writing policies, conducting difficult conversations, and communicating clearly across every level of the organization
-High degree of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive employee matters.
-Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Strong Assets:
-CHRP or CHRL designation, or active pursuit thereof.
-Experience in a start-up, scale-up, or newly launched operation where you have built processes from scratch rather than inherited them.
-Familiarity with WSIB claim management and return-to-work coordination.
-Experience supporting a business through rapid headcount growth.
What We Offer:
-Salary: $60,000–$80,000 based on experience.
-Full-time, Monday to Friday.
-Direct access to and support from the Director of Operations — this is not a role where HR is an afterthought.
-A genuinely ground-floor opportunity to build the people function of a company with national expansion ambitions.
-Clear path to a Senior HR or multi-site HR leadership role as the company grows.
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
