Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Dining Room Cashier / Food Services Helper to join our team. This role is essential in providing excellent customer service, ensuring smooth food service operations, and maintaining a clean and organized dining environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in the operation of the point-of-sales (POS) system, food service, and food handling, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and food safety. Duties
- Accurately process all cash, debit, and credit transactions using the POS system.
- Greet customers in a courteous and professional manner; take orders and relay accurate information to the kitchen team.
- Deliver food orders to dining tables as required.
- Stock and maintain food service counters, beverage stations, and display coolers with sandwiches, desserts, and beverages.
- Ensure cleanliness and functionality of food service counters, equipment, and dining room, following daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
- Monitor beverage machinery and report maintenance issues to the Coordinator.
- Monitor supply levels (beverages, paper goods, condiments, etc.) and report shortages to the Coordinator.
- Support table washer volunteers and ensure the cleanliness of tables and dining areas.
- Assist in preparing requisitions (coffee carts, in-house requests) and recording items distributed.
- Provide occasional support to cooks and volunteers with basic food preparation, service line assistance, and special event setup.
- Perform opening and closing duties, ensuring counters, dishwashing areas, and equipment are clean, secured, and shut down properly.
- Follow all food safety protocols and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe dining environment
Experience
- Prior experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred but not required
- Minimum 1 year of cashier or POS experience. Experience in cash handling, and basic math skills are highly desirable
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, stand for long periods, bend, move, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Friendly, positive, and professional attitude, with sensitivity to working with volunteers and older adults
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Food preparation or service experience is considered an asset.
Pay: $16.00-$17.00 per hour
