Job Title: Corporate Accountant (Part-Time)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized and friendly Corporate Accountant to manage our daily financial operations and ensure the accuracy of our financial records. In this role, you will handle everything from basic bookkeeping and data entry to preparing monthly financial statements.
As a key member of our small team, you will ensure our day-to-day financial engine runs smoothly, maintaining strict compliance and providing clear visibility into our cash flow and preparing detailed quarterly forecasts.
- Hours: 24 hours per week (Flexible scheduling options available, e.g., 3 full days or spread across 4–5 days). The position is on site.
- Reports To: Owner / CEO
- Location: Downtown Vancouver
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Financial Operations & Bookkeeping
- Maintain and update the general ledger with all daily financial transactions.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP): Review, verify, and process vendor invoices; schedule payments while optimizing cash flow.
- Manage Accounts Receivable (AR): Generate and issue client invoices; monitor aging reports and conduct polite collection follow-ups as needed.
- Perform weekly and monthly bank, credit card, and merchant account reconciliations.
2. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Execute the month-end closing process in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement).
- Assist management with cash flow tracking and basic budget-versus-actual variance analysis.
- Provide quarterly forecasts and financial analytics
3. Compliance, Tax & Payroll
- Process payroll and maintain accurate payroll records with our external payroll service
- Prepare and file provincial and federal sales tax returns and other routine regulatory filings.
- Organize and prepare necessary financial documentation and workpapers for the company’s external CPA for annual corporate tax preparation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience, Experience within a small business environment and a software as a service company is preferred
- Education: CPA designation and a university bachelor’s degree
- Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with small business accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
