The Arena Services Program Team at Bill Copeland Sports Centre, Kensington Complex, and Rosemary Brown Recreation Center are looking for Contract Skating Instructors who are committed to working with patrons of all ages to deliver fun and productive skating lessons for our community. Our staff team are welcoming applications for our Recreational Ice-Skating lessons starting in Fall.
This role includes the following duties and responsibilities:
Motivating students by providing a positive, safe, and fun learning environment in our skating lessons
Assessing and evaluating participants’ skating skills to write constructive progress cards
Providing excellent customer service and building and maintaining relationships
Planning and implementing skating lessons for all ages
Communicating effectively with team members, customers, and supervisors
Performing other related work as required
The qualifications for this position include:
Previous work or volunteer experience with children in a recreation or sport setting
Strong skating skills and experience in arena sport.
Knowledge of skating instruction techniques and skill progressions
Successful completion of Emergency First Aid with CPR-C and AED Certificate (8+ hour course) is required
High Five training, and National Coaching Certification Program courses are assets
Other relevant information:
Selected candidates will be required to attend an on-ice interview
You must provide your own skates and a CSA-approved hockey or snow sports helmet.

Pay Rate: $27.85 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
Location: Bill Copeland Sports Centre, Kensington Complex, and Rosemary Brown Recreation Center.
Hours of work: This is a contract position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements. Typical shifts will be Monday to Friday, 3:15pm to 7:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am-1:30pm with opportunities for daytime and evening lessons.
