Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of foster children and families? Bluewater Family Support Services is looking for a dedicated Child and Youth Worker to provide direct, hands-on support to children and foster families in the CARES program. You'll work alongside caregivers to strengthen regulation, relationship, and stability, while also helping the organization maintain an active, engaging social media presence.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct support visits to children and foster families, focusing on emotional regulation, relationship-building, and behavioural support
- Help caregivers apply CARES tools (grounding, de-escalation, calm-down strategies) in daily life
- Be available on-call for support during higher-stress moments or emerging situations
- Support documentation of visits, incidents, and progress in line with program and reporting standards
- Collaborate with the Program Supervisor, caregivers, CAS workers, and other partners
- Manage and create content for the organization's social media accounts (updates, program highlights, recruitment posts, community engagement)
- Bring flexibility and creativity to supporting children with varying needs
What You Bring
- Child and Youth Worker (CYW) diploma or equivalent
- Clear Broad Sector Check (Ontario)
- Good communication skills, both with children/families and in writing
- Comfort with computers and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) — able to create and manage content for the organization
- Availability for part-time hours, with some on-call flexibility
- Genuine openness to learning, feedback, and coaching
- Creativity and adaptability in working with children and families
- Ability to stay calm and supportive during stressful moments
- Experience with trauma-informed care, foster care, or child welfare is an asset
