Position Summary: Residential Counsellor
Residential Counsellors play a vital role in supporting residents to live full, meaningful, and self-directed lives. This position involves providing compassionate, person-centred support that addresses residents’ physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, medical, and daily living needs. Residential Counsellors work collaboratively to promote independence, dignity, and the highest possible quality of life, while fostering a safe, welcoming, and family-like home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily support and personal care tailored to individual needs
- Promote independence, choice, and community participation
- Support residents in achieving personal goals and maximizing their potential
- Administer medications and follow care plans and Behavioural Support Plans
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records
- Collaborate with clinical professionals and external support teams
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive living environment
Job Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Developmental Services, Health and Community Studies, Community Social Services, or a related field OR equivalent experience supporting individuals with multiple disabilities
- Clear Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector)
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
- Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and ability to be insured
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
Experience providing personal care to individuals with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or dual diagnoses
Experience implementing Behavioural Support Plans and working with clinical teams
Strong written communication skills for completing reports and documentation
Effective conflict-resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Experience with or willingness to learn medication administration
Comfort using technology for documentation, scheduling, and communication systems

Pay: $30.46-$32.67 per hour
