Regional Maintenance Manager - West
We are looking for a Regional Maintenance Manager to join our Maintenance department. Custom Helicopters Ltd. provides helicopter support to clients for various applications, while providing high-quality services with a commitment to safety, quality, and value.
Reporting to the Vice President, Maintenance, the Regional Maintenance Manager is accountable for the safe, compliant, and efficient leadership of all regional maintenance operations. This role provides strategic and operational oversight across maintenance planning, execution, resource coordination, and technical support activities, ensuring aircraft availability and operational readiness are achieved in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for all regional maintenance activities in support of safe, reliable, and efficient helicopter operations.
- Partner closely with the Vice President, Maintenance to address operational priorities, maintenance risks, and resource requirements across the region.
- Oversee and coordinate regional maintenance, repair, modification, inspection, and overhaul activities to ensure aircraft availability and regulatory compliance.
- Lead, coach, and support the regional maintenance team by setting expectations, fostering accountability, and promoting continuous development.
- Act as the primary regional liaison with aircraft, engine, and component technical support representatives, approved maintenance organizations, and key vendors.
- Ensure all regional maintenance activities are conducted safely and in full compliance with company procedures, approved maintenance programs, manufacturer technical data, and applicable Canadian Aviation Regulations.
- Ensure maintenance priorities, aircraft status, and operational impacts are communicated clearly and proactively to the Operations Centre and other internal stakeholders.
- Perform aircraft maintenance as required to support operational requirements and business continuity.
- Manage aircraft-on-ground situations by leading troubleshooting efforts and coordinating technical response, parts procurement, logistics, and recovery actions.
- Coordinate regional inventory and material requirements with the central procurement team to support planned and unplanned maintenance activity.
- Support vendor engagement related to maintenance services, material acquisition, repair status, and shipment tracking as required.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements that enhance maintenance planning, technical support, operational efficiency, and service reliability.
- Contribute as a key member of the broader maintenance leadership team, supporting company-wide performance, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience leading maintenance operations, including maintenance planning, logistics coordination, execution oversight, and team leadership in a complex operational environment.
- Hold a valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence with an M1 or M2 rating.
- Extensive rotary-wing maintenance experience is strongly preferred, ideally within a multi-base or geographically dispersed operation.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations, approved maintenance programs, and OEM technical data.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across internal teams, customers, vendors, and external partners.
- Sound business acumen, including an understanding of budgeting, cost control, operational performance, and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication, computer, planning, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operating environment.
