Position Overview
Blackmore Clinic is seeking a qualified and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to support our clinical team and help address current staffing needs. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care while working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
This position is ideal for an experienced Nurse Practitioner who can adapt quickly, manage a varied patient caseload, and contribute effectively in a fast-paced hospital or clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients, obtain medical histories, and perform physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic health conditions within the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice.
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with applicable regulations and organizational policies.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Provide health education, disease prevention, and wellness counselling to patients and families.
- Collaborate with physicians, registered nurses, specialists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Refer patients to appropriate specialists and community resources when required.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient documentation.
- Support patient flow and clinical coverage during periods of high demand or staffing shortages.
- Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives.
- Respond appropriately to urgent or changing patient conditions.
Qualifications
- Degree in Nursing or an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current registration and authorization to practise as a Nurse Practitioner in Ontario.
- Current professional liability coverage, where required.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Two or more years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- Experience working in a hospital, primary care clinic, urgent care, or similar healthcare setting is an asset.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and a diverse patient caseload.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
Preferred Skills
- Experience providing care to [adult, pediatric, geriatric, family practice, or specialized] patient populations.
- Experience working in a high-volume or fast-paced clinical environment.
- Knowledge of current clinical guidelines, privacy requirements, and patient safety standards.
- Flexibility to work additional shifts when coverage needs arise.
