We are currently seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Worker / 5-Ton Truck Driver to join our team in Dartmouth. This role involves a mix of local driving within HRM and hands-on yard work, including handling scaffolding materials, preparing customer orders, and assisting with loading and unloading trucks. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced yard environment, interacting with customers, and performing physical work throughout the day.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for driving a 5-ton flat deck truck within the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) to deliver and pick up scaffolding materials. A significant part of the job involves loading and unloading scaffolding materials by hand, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently. When not driving, you will assist with yard operations, including picking and preparing customer orders, returning materials to inventory, and maintaining an organized work area. You will also be responsible for properly securing loads for transport and supporting the loading and unloading of trucks using a knuckle boom (training provided). Throughout the day, you will interact with customers, so professionalism and strong customer service are important.
Requirements
The ideal candidate must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license with an air brake endorsement and be able to lift up to 40 pounds while performing physical yard work. CSA-approved safety footwear (minimum 6”) is required, and certifications in WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR are considered assets. Experience with load securing is also beneficial.
