About East Kootenay Motel
Today, we operate as a functional roadside motel serving a mix of nightly guests and longer-term stays. Over the next 12–24 months, we will be thoughtfully transforming the property into a wellness-driven boutique destination rooted in Fernie’s mountain heritage.
This is a repositioning in motion — and we’re looking for the right person (or couple) to help shape it.
We’re seeking someone who takes pride in raising standards immediately, while helping lay the operational foundation for a full renovation and relaunch.
Alternatively, we welcome interest from a reliable couple who would like to live on-site and play an active role in stabilizing, improving, and elevating the property during this transition.

The Role
We are seeking a Housekeeping Lead who can:
- Take ownership of cleanliness standards across the property
- Execute strong daily room turns and deep cleans
- Help create new systems and checklists
- Maintain professionalism in a mixed-use environment
- Prepare us for a future boutique relaunch
You will play a key role in stabilizing operations and setting the tone for the next phase of the motel.
Key Responsibilities
Room Cleaning & Turnovers
- Full room cleans and sanitization
- Bathroom deep cleaning
- Bed stripping, remaking with fresh linens
- Floors, surfaces, mirrors, and windows
- Removal of garbage and debris
Laundry Operations
- Sorting, washing, drying, folding linens and towels
- Maintaining quality and stain control
- Managing laundry supply levels
Property Standards
- Identify maintenance issues and report promptly
- Monitor cleaning supply inventory
- Maintain common areas and exterior tidiness
- Support implementation of improved systems (keyless entry, booking tech, etc.)
System Building
- Follow and refine cleaning checklists
- Help create processes that support future boutique standards
- Assist in training additional housekeeping staff as we grow
Who You Are
- Reliable and consistent
- Detail-oriented
- Comfortable working in a transitional environment
- Calm and professional
- Ideally experienced in hospitality or commercial cleaning
