YES Canada is looking for an entrepreneurial, outgoing and energetic individual in the Morrin, AB area to recruit and build a network of host families for incoming international high school students and to support, on an as needed basis, the regional local coordinator with student and host family matters.
YES Canada is a high school student exchange company that provides Canadian and International high school students the opportunity to study abroad with flexible terms of 2 - 12 months. International students studying in Canada stay with a host family and attend a local high school, while supported by the local coordinator, to experience life in Canada.
The Role:
The YES Canada Recruitment and Local Coordinator contract is multifaceted and includes the following components:
1. Recruiting and screening host families within the local area to welcome and host our inbound international students and consistently networking to build a database of homestay families.
2. Providing on-program support to our international students and host families on an as needed basis to support the regional local coordinator.
In this role, you will work to build and develop a loyal and consistent host family network by providing a customized family experience and supports. Your ability to develop relationships with both internal and external partners is crucial to your success, particularly within the community. A proven motivation and entrepreneurial style enables you to drive the business results you desire, as the position is fulfilled on a contractor and commission basis. We are seeking an individual who is driven to build a network of host families and facilitate the growth of the programs, while delivering exceptional support to the students and hosts while on program, as may be required.
As a local coordinator you will:
- Cultivate local business opportunities and seek out new host families through relationship building within the community and your centres of influence
- Develop a loyal client base by providing exceptional educated advice, supports and troubleshooting solutions
- Collaborate with community organizations to anchor external host families
- Meet and/or exceed allocated homestay placement quotas each student intake period for your region
- Complete homestay screenings to qualify families and match students with host families
- Take the initiative to provide advice, support and solutions to host families, meeting their individual needs prior to student arrival and provide support to both the host family and international student during the program, on an as needed basis to support the regional local coordinator
- Be accessible and accommodate host family and students needs
- Act as a liaison between the main office and host family/student, providing first line of support and contact
Successful candidates will possess the following skills:
- Experience in sales, recruiting, marketing, education, hospitality, counselling, or tourism fields
- Experience with community engagement and network building experience in your community, which can result in referrals and new host families
- Proven ability to build trust and maintain long-term community relationships
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders (community organizations, host families, students)
- A self-starter who works independently and seeks out answers
- Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and mediation
- Excellent communication, presentation and organization skills
- Ability to work at irregular hours occasionally
- A reliable vehicle and drivers license - must be comfortable driving
- Access to a personal computer, printer, scanner and has a smart phone
- Basic computer literacy with applications such as Microsoft, Outlook, Adobe and access to the software
- The position involves working with minor students and as such the successful candidate must be willing to provide criminal reference check clearance including vulnerable sector screening.
