Our Operations Business Services Office is seeking a Senior Performance Analyst to provide advice and analytical insight for the development of performance reports and processes that address partner reporting requirements. The Senior Performance Analyst will support Asset Performance and Engineering, and will report to the Manager, Operational Performance.
What will I be doing?
- Drive Strategic Insights; design, develop, deliver, and maintain dashboards and Key Performance Indicators using Power BI, and reports that enhance Metrolinx’s Asset Performance.
Utilize engineering knowledge of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM), and connect to the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system with Power BI to develop KPIs for RAM metrics.
Support the use of Enterprise Asset Management Information Systems and other operational systems; develop reporting dashboards to inform performance; enable fast, easy, meaningful operational and business insights.
- Perform Advanced Analytics; apply predictive modelling and statistical techniques to leading indicators on asset performance and trends.
- Operational Excellence: Investigate operating and performance challenges by liaising with stakeholders to determine root causes and recommend preventative actions.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of internal and external data sources relevant to asset performance and operations.
Data Integrity: Understand data source systems and collaborate with external partners and I&IT to ensure data quality, refine collection processes, and support enterprise data governance, compliance and risk policies (e.g. Enterprise Data Governance).

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a degree Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrate years of experience in conducting quantitative analysis and development of performance monitoring dashboards/reports.
- Demonstrate progressive experience and advanced skills in developing reports with Power BI, Power Query and DAX.
- Advanced skills in using SQL for querying and extracting data developed through years of experience in hands on use of SQL.
- Demonstrate experience in regularly using R or Python for data analysis, including data extraction, data wrangling.
- Knowledge of AI tools such as Copilot to develop quick insights and aid in coding and automation
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Apps, Automate) to automate processes
- Knowledge of information systems to collect, extract data and present data in audience appropriate digestible format (example: creating and maintaining reports, digital dashboards).
- Analytical skills to investigate operating issues and recommend solutions.
- Certification in Power BI would be considered an asset.
- Prior work experience in Transit, Manufacturing or Commercial will be considered an asset.
- Data quality assurance processes, methodology and tools, quality assurance testing and implementation methods and practices to ensure the integrity of data.
- Creativity to determine format of dashboards and to translate a range of diverse data/information into actionable results that support internal and external requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate data and present data that drive improvements
- Experience communicating analytic methodology to non-technical audience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to draft reports, analyze information and present information to various audiences.
