McCarthy’s Roofing is a trusted name in commercial and residential roofing, known for quality workmanship, safety, and service. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Corporate Accountant to join our accounting team.
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Estimator to join our growing roofing company in Atlantic Canada. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and residential roofing projects, supporting business development efforts, and helping ensure profitable project execution.
The ideal candidate has a working to strong knowledge of construction estimating practices, and the ability to manage multiple tenders and client relationships in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, site conditions, and tender documents
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and project cost estimates
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Estimate labor, materials, equipment, and production timelines
- Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals and quotations
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client walkthroughs
- Collaborate with operations, project managers, and field supervisors during handoff
- Track awarded, pending, and lost tenders
- Maintain estimating databases, pricing history, and supplier relationships
- Assist with budgeting, value engineering, and cost analysis
- Support change order pricing and project forecasting as needed
- Ensure estimates align with company margins, safety standards, and production capabilities
Qualifications and Skills
- 1+ years of estimating experience in roofing or construction or a recent graduate of a related construction / technology program, a person willing to learn and advance
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
- Experience with (estimating) software and Microsoft Office
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally within Atlantic Canada
Preferred Skills
- Experience with tender platforms and bid management systems
- Knowledge of local building codes and Atlantic Canadian construction practices
- Familiarity with labor productivity tracking and costing
- Understanding of safety requirements and COR standards
- Ability to build relationships with clients, consultants, and general contractors
Working Conditions
