UI/UX Designer, Healthcare SaaS (Contract Role):
GenXys is a precision prescribing and clinical decision support company helping healthcare organizations use pharmacogenomics, medication intelligence, and clinical workflow tools to support safer, more personalized prescribing.
We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to lead a focused redesign of our prescribing orchestration platform. This work will modernize the user experience, improve usability for future health system customers, and create a polished interface foundation for product demonstrations and future EHR-integrated workflows.
We are specifically seeking a designer with experience creating healthcare software used by clinicians at the point of care, particularly tools that support prescribing, medication management, clinical decision support, or interpretation of complex patient information.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the current platform experience and identify high-impact usability and visual design improvements.
- Redesign priority workflows for clinician-facing pharmacogenomics, medication, and prescribing decision support use cases.
- Seek, synthesize, and apply customer and end-user feedback to improve software usability, workflow fit, and clinical relevance.
- Create intuitive user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and clickable prototypes for priority product areas.
- Translate complex clinical, genomic, medication, and patient-specific information into clear, actionable interfaces that support efficient clinical decision-making.
- Design interfaces that help clinicians quickly understand recommendations, relevant evidence, risk information, and next steps without creating unnecessary cognitive burden or alert fatigue.
- Develop practical design standards and reusable components that can be implemented by the engineering team.
- Work closely with Product, Clinical Content, Engineering, and executive leadership to prioritize design decisions and support demonstration-ready workflows.
- Consider future Epic and health system integration contexts, including how GenXys insights and recommendations may appear within or alongside EHR workflows.
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience designing healthcare software used by clinicians, ideally in point-of-care, prescribing, medication management, pharmacy, clinical decision support, or EHR-related workflows.
- Strong understanding of clinician workflow, including the need for speed, clarity, patient context, appropriate clinical detail, and minimal interruption during care delivery.
- Experience designing complex SaaS or enterprise applications with data-rich interfaces and multiple user types.
- Strong portfolio showing end-to-end UX and UI work for healthcare products, including workflow redesign, clinical dashboards, decision-support tools, prescribing tools, or similar applications.
- Experience creating prototypes and design systems in Figma or comparable tools.
- Ability to work effectively with software engineers and translate designs into practical implementation requirements.
- Strong judgment in simplifying complex clinical information without losing necessary context, evidence, or safety considerations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with medication prescribing workflows, drug-drug interaction tools, drug-gene interactions, pharmacogenomics, medication therapy management, or pharmacy software.
- Experience designing for Epic, Cerner, Oracle Health, or other major EHR environments.
- Familiarity with clinical decision support principles, alert fatigue, clinician usability, and interoperability considerations.
- Experience working with health systems, hospitals, ambulatory care organizations, or enterprise healthcare software companies.
- Experience supporting early-stage or growth-stage SaaS companies where speed, prioritization, and practical execution are important.
Engagement
This is expected to begin as a project-based or contract engagement, with a defined initial scope focused on updating our lab reporting software interface & ouputs, priority clinician workflows, health system use cases, and demo-ready product experiences. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to support ongoing product design. This is a fully remote role, with applicants accepted from the US or Canada.
