Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate veterinary team. This role is essential in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the highest quality care for our animal patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in animal health, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn. Prior laboratory experience is a valuable asset for this position. This is a paid position, offering an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional veterinary environment.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, including preparing examination rooms and handling animals during exams and treatments
- Collect and process laboratory samples, ensuring proper handling and documentation
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical equipment and work areas
- Restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian
- Monitor animal patients' condition and report any concerns to the veterinary team
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Educate pet owners on post-treatment care and general health advice
Experience
- Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for all necessary procedures
- Experience working with animals or in a veterinary setting is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail, compassion, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a fast-paced environment
