We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Purchaser to support purchasing, inventory, and receiving activities in our growing manufacturing environment. This integral role in our organization will support purchasing and inventory activities by creating, managing, and issuing purchase orders, coordinating with vendors and suppliers, tracking deliveries, backorders, and maintaining accurate MRP data. The role also assists with receiving, quarterly cycle counting, inventory organization, and day-to-day production support.
What you will do:
Purchasing:
- Create, review, and revise purchase orders, including adding or adjusting items as needed and placing online orders with suppliers.
- Optimize minimum order quantities (MOQs), pricing, supplier options, and lead times to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Follow up with vendors regarding partial shipments, shortages, backorders, and order discrepancies.
- Update issued purchase orders with scheduled delivery dates and maintain accurate delivery timelines and other key information in Fishbowl (MRP).
- Keep vendor records up to date, including contacts, account details, and remittance information. You will communicate delays, shortages, and backordered items to the Production Manager in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and process return merchandise authorizations (RMAs) with suppliers.
Receiving and Inventory Support:
- Support inventory organization by reviewing overstock locations, confirming counts, and maintaining accurate inventory data and placement.
- Assist with general receiving activities when needed
- Perform other related administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 6 months to 2 years of relevant experience in purchasing and/or inventory management, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, strong computer skills (Google Suite preferred), acute attention to detail are comfortable and experienced working with data.
- Can work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Bring a solid work ethic, are a self-starter, and have a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, strong internal and external customer service skills, and you are responsible, resourceful, accountable, and dependable.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong safety mindset.
Education:
- A high school diploma is required.
- Post-secondary education in Operations, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is an asset.
Compensation and benefits:
The hourly compensation range is $27-32/hr, depending on experience.
