Assistant Controller | High-Growth Manufacturing | GTA West
A rapidly growing manufacturing organization is seeking a forward-thinking Assistant Controller to join its finance team. This is a high-impact role supporting the Controller while helping modernize and streamline accounting operations.
We’re looking for a candidate who brings not only strong technical accounting expertise, but also a passion for automation, process improvement, and leveraging AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Oversee general ledger activities , including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
Partner on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
Contribute to weekly and monthly management reporting
Monitor inventory costing and cost of goods sold (COGS)
Support accounts receivable and cash collection activities
Assist with audit preparation and financial reporting requirements
Identify, design, and implement process improvements , with a strong focus on automation and AI-enabled efficiencies
Drive initiatives to reduce manual processes and enhance data accuracy and reporting speed
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
CPA designation (or near completion)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience (manufacturing experience an asset)
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems
Proven ability to leverage automation tools, improve workflows, and adopt emerging technologies (AI, process automation, etc.)
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing priorities
