Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Driver/Childcare Worker, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe transportation of children while providing attentive and nurturing childcare services. You will be responsible for safely transporting children to and from home, engaging with families, and creating a positive, secure experience for every child in your care.
Duties
- Safely transport children on scheduled bus runs (morning and afternoons) and on scheduled outings while adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure it is in excellent working condition and report any issues promptly
- Provide attentive supervision and care for children during transportation and within the childcare setting, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and team members regarding schedules, behavior, and any concerns that arise during transport or childcare activities
- Provide a clean and organized environment including interior and exterior of the van
- Lift and carry children or related equipment safely as needed during daily routines or outings
- Organize routes based on enrollment and school start/end times
- Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules, incidents, and child attendance
- Pick-up and Delivery weekly grocery shop, recycling runs, water runs, and other needs that arise for the organization.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving or transportation roles, with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Prior experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly preferred
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
- Ability to perform lifting safely and handle physical tasks associated with childcare duties
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to transportation and childcare services is advantageous
Requirements
- Class 4 Drivers License (Valid, BC)
- Clean Drivers Abstract
- Medical clearance to drive and work with children
- Clean Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check
- Responsible Adult Certification
- 3 references
- Ability to work split shifts (morning and afternoon runs)
- Immunization Record/TB Screening
