Reporting to the Lead, Medical Affairs, the Coordinator supports the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that advance Medical Affairs priorities across Recovery Alberta. This role conducts current-state assessments, environmental scans, and inter-jurisdictional benchmarking to inform evidence-based recommendations and support the development of tools, resources, processes, and procedures that enhance medical staff programs and services. The Coordinator contributes to a variety of strategic projects and operational initiatives through research, data collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and the development of recommendations to support effective decision-making. Areas of focus may include physician compensation, medical staff recruitment and retention, medical leadership structures, governance, physician engagement, and other priorities impacting the medical workforce. Working collaboratively with medical leaders, physicians, administrative leaders, and partners across the organization, the Coordinator helps identify opportunities for improvement and supports the implementation of sustainable solutions. Leveraging strong analytical, organizational, and relationship-building skills, this role plays a key part in ensuring effective processes, tools, and resources are in place to support medical leaders and medical staff in delivering high-quality care to Albertans. As part of a provincial team, the position location is negotiable within Alberta and may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, business administration, or related healthcare field. Minimum three (3) years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment working with medical staff and developing physician related strategies.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience supporting initiatives related to physician engagement, compensation, recruitment, retention, governance, or leadership development. Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating complex initiatives. Strong research, environmental scanning, and benchmarking skills, with the ability to gather, synthesize, and interpret information from a variety of sources. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Visio, with the ability to develop reports, presentations, process maps, and analytical tools. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex issues, options, and recommendations to diverse audiences. Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Proven ability to support change initiatives and contribute to the development and implementation of innovative solutions to complex organizational challenges. Strong relationship-building skills and a demonstrated ability to foster partnerships and collaboration within large, complex organizations and with external stakeholders. Knowledge of the healthcare system and Medical Affairs practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project management certification or training. Quality improvement or process improvement certification. Training or certification in data analytics, business intelligence, or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Advanced Excel) is considered an asset. Experience in Medical Affairs, including physician compensation models, medical staff bylaws, and physician resource planning. Familiarity with Alberta’s healthcare system.
