Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and reliable Gas Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing gas systems and HVAC equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of residential and light commercial HVAC systems, gas piping, troubleshooting, and blueprint reading. The Gas Technician will ensure safety standards are met while providing professional service to customers across various job sites. Responsibilities - Install, inspect, service, and repair gas lines and gas-fired equipment in compliance with TSSA regulations and safety standards - Install, maintain, and troubleshoot furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and related HVAC equipment - Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings - Utilize hand tools and testing equipment to complete installations and repairs accurately - Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC and gas systems to ensure optimal performance and safety - Troubleshoot mechanical and HVAC system issues - Assist with ductwork, ventilation, HRV/ERV systems, and related mechanical work - Perform system testing, startup, and quality checks following installation or repair procedures - Maintain detailed documentation of work performed for service records and compliance purposes - Communicate professionally with customers and team members on-site Requirements - Valid G2 or G1 Gas Technician License - Valid Working at Heights Certificate - Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and safe work practices - Experience in residential and/or commercial HVAC service and installation - Knowledge of furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, boilers, and gas piping systems - Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings - Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience using HVAC tools and equipment - Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting is an asset - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Ability to work safely while following company and TSSA safety procedures - Valid Ontario driver’s license - Ability to work independently and as part of a team Assets - 313A or 313D License - Experience with rooftop units (RTUs) - Experience with heat pumps and modern HVAC systems - Sheet metal or ductwork experience - Experience with smart thermostats and controls About Us Ontario Smart Heating & Cooling Inc. is a growing HVAC company serving residential and commercial clients across the GTA and Durham Region.
