About the Opportunity
A well-established, high-volume automotive dealership group in Greater Vancouver is seeking an experienced Senior Dealership Accountant to join their finance and accounting team. This is a confidential search on behalf of the employer; company details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned, detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced dealership environment. Reporting to the Controller, this individual will take ownership of vehicle accounting functions from deal posting and reconciliation to cost analysis, cheque requisitions, and month-end close. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior accounting staff and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
- Enter sales transactions for all vehicle categories, including new, used, wholesale, dealer trades, and fleet units
- Audit each deal file for completeness and correctness of lease/purchase agreements, as well as associated sales costs and manufacturer incentives
- Evaluate, approve and process payment requisitions covering buy-ins, dealer trades, customer refunds, and extended warranty remittances
- Reconcile all vehicle-related ledgers, covering sales receivables, factory program receivables, contracts in transit, inventory holdings, and flooring statements
- Prepare monthly variable pay schedules for sales and fixed operations
- Complete month-end close activities, including accruals, depreciation, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
- Support AP/AR functions, inventory counts, and internal audit activity
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as required to support business operations
What You Bring
- 2+ years of previous accounting experience in an automotive setting required, including hands-on vehicle deal posting
- Experience with a Dealer Management System (PBS, CDK)
- CPA designation, or actively pursuing CPA, preferred but not required
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and the broader MS Office suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends and discrepancies
- Adaptable and comfortable with organizational change, with a genuine interest in continuous learning and professional development
- Full -time availability working in the office

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
