The Opportunity
Morgan Investments Group (“MIG”) is a private investment office with a growing portfolio across real estate, infrastructure and industrial services. We need a Junior Controller who wants to be more than a Controller. This is a lean, evolving organization. The portfolio is evolving, and the finance function is being built alongside it. You're not inheriting a clean structure, rather helping build a new one.
If you're a technically strong accountant who thinks like a business operator and wants to be in the room where decisions get made, keep reading.
What You'll Do
Own the books across MIG and its portfolio companies. Month-end; quarter-end; year-end; clean ledger; accurate statements; consistent reporting across entities. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
Build the reporting and analysis that drives decisions. Management reporting, forecasting, scenario modeling, cash flow, working capital, margins.
Work across the portfolio. Our companies span different industries and stages. You'll need to move between them fluidly. Industrial services one day, real estate capital structure the next. You go where the work is.
Fix what's broken and build what's missing to better asses the current state of the business. We’re looking for someone who can identify gaps, and put the right processes, controls, and systems in place for a growing platform.
Who You Are
- CPA with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience across the full cycle
- You've worked in lean environments and know what it means to wear multiple hats
- You think like an operator and care about how a business makes money
- You can move across industries. You may not have deep experience today, but you learn fast
- You communicate clearly and can present to a CEO, partner with an operator, and explain complex issues in plain language.
- Proficient in Excel and QuickBooks. Resourceful with the tools available and capable of recommending what comes next.
Why This Role
This is a unique opportunity to come in, own the finance function, deliver clean numbers and sharp analysis, so the team can think beyond the ledger. People who do that at Morgan Investments don't stay in narrow lanes, and the opportunity for growth is a big as your drive.
