About the Comox Valley Child Development Association:
Established in 1974, the Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA) is honoured to reside on the unceded traditional territories of the Pentlatch, E'iksan and K'ómoks First Nations.
The CVCDA is a dynamic, multi-service not-for-profit agency dedicated to supporting children and families with a wide-range of programs for children, youth and young adults with developmental delays and diverse abilities. Our services have spanned over 50 years in the Comox Valley and we have grown to become one the largest CDA’s on Vancouver Island.

Job Summary:
The Project Inclusion Support Worker is required to work with young adults to assist in the implementation of daily activities to achieve their goals in community living in the areas of recreation, learning, socializing, volunteering, and employment. This worker will support individuals and participate in activities such as swimming, going to the gym, and supporting the clients with college classes, and recreation programs. The successful applicant will also be responsible for supporting the personal care needs for participants in the program. Experience working with individuals who use wheelchairs is required. In addition, the applicant will help the client towards independence, goal setting and help the client build advocacy skills. Applicants will be trained to work globally in the program as well as covering 1:1 shifts.
Qualifications and Skills:
The applicant must have strong problem solving skills and creatively respond to families’ needs for their young adult and have excellent group facilitation and communication skills. Qualification skills include a Degree in Child and Youth Care, certification in Human Service Worker Program, or appropriate training in Child and Youth Care and two years of recent relevant experience working with young adults with diverse abilities. Additional requirements are a valid driver’s license, current vehicle insurance, driver’s abstract and First Aid training. Experience in American sign language and knowledge of AAC devices are an asset.

· Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
· Willingness to participate in agency community engagement activities such as the annual Telethon fundraiser and community engagement
· A criminal record check will be required
