Position Summary
An accomplished Senior Manager of Engineering and Product Development is sought to lead the innovation and execution of product and engineering projects for Data Center and Life Sciences products. This senior leadership role is based in the Montreal Metropolitan Area and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams across Montreal/Saint-Hubert and Mesa, Arizona, U.S.A.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving excellence in engineering execution, process development, and cross-functional collaboration, and will provide critical contributions to end-to-end product lifecycle management—from concept to commercialization. This role demands a hands-on leader with deep technical expertise in HVAC systems, particularly Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) units, experience leading global product initiatives, and a passion for performance-driven innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Technology Strategy
- Contribute to and execute a unified product and technology roadmap for CRAH systems and air-cooled chillers aligned with data center strategy.
- Lead ideation, feasibility studies, benchmarking, and architectural design aligned with customer requirements, sustainability trends, and regulatory standards.
- Translate market insights into actionable product features supporting speed to market, energy efficiency, scalability, and modularity.
Engineering and New Product Development & Introduction
- Drive the design, development, and launch of innovative HVAC/R systems through a disciplined NPI/NPD process.
- Own the New Technology Introduction (NTI) framework and implement a robust Stage-Gate process.
- Oversee system integration, prototyping, design validation, and field trials for new and legacy products.
Process Development & Continuous Improvement
- Institutionalize engineering best practices including PLM, Design Review Processes, DFM, Reliability Engineering, and FRACAS.
- Establish KPI-driven dashboards to monitor engineering quality, schedules, and program performance.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution
- Collaborate with Product Management, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams across Mesa, Toronto, and Montreal/Saint-Hubert.
- Lead cross-site engineering teams to deliver technically sound and commercially viable products.
Talent Development & Technical Mentorship
- Build, manage, and scale a high-performing engineering organization.
- Provide technical mentorship across refrigeration systems, airflow design, embedded controls, and mechanical/electrical subsystems.
Subject Matter Expertise & Innovation
- Serve as SME for CRAH systems, heat exchangers, refrigerant architectures, and energy-efficient system design.
- Maintain industry visibility through ASHRAE involvement, publications, and academic partnerships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Engineering Management preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive engineering and product leadership experience in HVAC/R systems.
- Expertise in HVAC products and mission-critical data center cooling.
- Proven ability to lead technical organizations and launch complex HVAC/R platforms.
- Familiarity with ISO, AHRI, and DOE standards; Six Sigma or Lean certification preferred.

Pay: $170,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
