POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day human resources support to assigned client groups across the Alliance. The role partners closely with managers and employees to support employee relations, attendance management, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and policy administration.
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted advisor to managers while promoting consistent application of policies, collective agreements, and employment practices across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee and Labour Relations
· Provide guidance and support to managers on routine employee and labour relations matters.
· Assist managers with attendance management, performance concerns, workplace conflict, accommodations, and employee engagement issues.
· Lead and conduct workplace investigations related to employee concerns, client complaints, workplace conflict, policy violations, and other organizational matters, including conducting interviews, reviewing evidence, documenting findings.
· Support disciplinary processes and grievance administration as required.
· Ensure consistent application of collective agreements, policies, and procedures.
· Escalate complex or high-risk matters to the Manager, Human Resources.
Manager Support
· Act as the primary HR contact for assigned client groups.
· Coach managers on documentation, performance management, attendance management, and employee relations practices.
· Support managers in addressing employee concerns in a timely and consistent manner.
· Promote leadership accountability and sound people management practices.
Attendance and Disability Management
· Support attendance management processes, including return-to-work planning and documentation.
· Assist with accommodation requests and disability management processes in collaboration with managers and external providers.
· Monitor attendance trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
Performance Management and Employee Development
· Support probationary reviews, performance improvement plans, and employee development initiatives.
· Assist managers in setting performance expectations and addressing performance concerns.
· Promote employee growth and development opportunities.
· Policy Administration and Compliance
· Ensure compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and organizational policies.
· Participate in policy implementation and communication.
· Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.
Organizational Initiatives
· Participate in organizational projects, workforce planning initiatives, and change management activities.
· Support continuous improvement efforts related to HR programs, systems, and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
· CHRP designation or working toward designation is considered an asset.
· Minimum 3–5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
· Experience supporting employee relations, attendance management, recruitment and performance management.
· Experience conducting workplace investigations.
· Formal training in workplace investigations is considered an asset.
· Knowledge of employment legislation and labour relations principles.
· Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
· Ability to coach and support managers effectively.
· Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
·Working knowledge of collective agreements and employment legislation.
· A Clear Criminal Record Check obtained within the last 3 months is required.
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
