Job Summary
The incumbent plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, ensuring dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment are cleaned and ready for use. This position is essential to keeping kitchen operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean dishes, glassware, food preparation equipment including pots and pans, and utensils, ensuring everything is properly sanitized.
- Wash, polish, and place items in designated areas.
- Change the water in machines and sinks every two hours, or more frequently as directed, and use proper chemical dilutions in accordance with company standards.
- Follow proper hygiene standards and maintain a high level of cleanliness in compliance with provincial policies.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly brought to the washing station.
- Perform kitchen cleaning and additional cleaning tasks as requested.
- Unload and store food deliveries.
- Monitor cleanliness in all areas, including the kitchen and storage rooms.
- Keep work areas clean and dry at all times.
- Maintain clean and dry floors throughout the shift, especially in case of spills.
- Clean and sanitize workstations before the end of the shift.
- Ensure that cleaning procedures are properly followed during the shift. Employees must comply with all current and updated company health and safety regulations.
- Maintain trash bins throughout the shift and remove full garbage and boxes at the end of each shift.
- Transport food, equipment, and supplies from one lounge to another, or to different locations.
- Perform any other additional tasks or responsibilities based on operational needs, as assigned by the duty manager (e.g., covering a colleague during their break).
- Other related responsibilities or special/ad hoc projects, as required.
Qualifications Required
- Ability to work in a team environment and take direction.
- Good organizational skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Positive attitude.
- Must be able to multitask and plan ahead.
- Able to obtain Transport Canada clearance for security pass (RAIC) to work at the airport.
Working Conditions
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Tolerance for working in high-heat environments
- Must be flexible to work weekdays/weekends and statutory holidays.
- Must be available to work flexible shifts early morning/day/evening shifts
