Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our growing team. This hybrid role combines office-based estimating with regular site visits to conduct field assessments, verify project conditions, and develop practical installation solutions. The ideal candidate has strong experience in industrial electrical construction, understands cable routing design, and can produce accurate, competitive estimates for electrical and low-voltage projects.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze RFPs, RFQs, tender documents, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive site surveys to verify existing conditions, identify project constraints, and gather all information required for accurate estimating.
- Perform detailed field measurements and assess electrical infrastructure, equipment locations, and installation requirements.
- Develop practical cable routing, conduit pathways, cable tray layouts, and equipment placement based on actual site conditions.
- Identify constructability challenges, installation risks, code compliance issues, and opportunities for value engineering.
- Prepare accurate material take-offs, labour estimates, equipment lists, and detailed cost sheets.
- Develop competitive project budgets, pricing schedules, and bid summaries.
- Prepare project schedules, labour forecasts, resource requirements, and preliminary construction timelines.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Operations, and field supervisors to ensure estimates and schedules are practical and achievable.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
- Analyze vendor pricing, lead times, and material availability to support procurement planning.
- Prepare complete technical and commercial proposals for tenders, design-build opportunities, and negotiated projects.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, client meetings, and site walkthroughs as required.
- Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to ensure estimate completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing records, and supplier cost information.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Operations throughout the bidding process.
- Support project handover by providing detailed estimating documentation, assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications.
- Mentor Junior Estimators by reviewing estimates, providing technical guidance, and supporting professional development.
- Ensure compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), client specifications, and company standards.
- Continuously monitor market trends, labour rates, and material costs to improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness.
Skills
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry standards
- Proficiency in Bluebeam for digital markup and document management
- Skilled in negotiation to secure favorable pricing and terms with suppliers and subcontractors
- Experience with project management tools and software such as HeavyBid or similar platforms
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and electrical codes

Pay: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
