Avalon Employment Inc. is currently seeking an Employment Counsellor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing an active client caseload, assessing client strengths and employment goals, and supporting individuals in securing and maintaining meaningful employment opportunities. This role requires a motivated and compassionate individual who can work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
The Employment Counsellor will:
Conduct client interviews to assess employment history, education, skills, interests, and career goals
Develop individualized employment action plans and support strategies
Identify and address barriers to employment
Support clients with job readiness skills, résumé development, interview preparation, and job search strategies
Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and community partners
Develop employment opportunities and effectively market client strengths and abilities to employers
Provide ongoing support to both clients and employers to promote successful job placements and workplace retention
Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and case management records
Stay informed on labour market trends and community resources
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, along with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and work autonomously. Experience managing a caseload and coordinating multiple client needs is considered a strong asset.
Candidates should possess:
A strong understanding of developmental disabilities, autism, and inclusive employment practices
Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in employment or community-based settings
The ability to establish professional relationships with employers, community agencies, and stakeholders
Strong time management skills and attention to detail
Creativity, initiative, and professionalism
The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Social Sciences or a related field
Relevant professional experience working with persons with disabilities is considered an asset
Experience in employment counselling, job development, case management, or related fields is preferred
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required
