Qualifications
- NCSO Certification, or working towards NCSO Certification considered an asset
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Experience in a health and safety role within a construction or an industrial environment an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with/on JHSC considered an asset
Job Duties
- Support the implementation and enforcement of site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental programs in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and applicable regulations
- Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits; document findings and track corrective actions to completion
- Assist with incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, including reporting, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions
- Coordinate and deliver site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings to workers, supervisors, and subcontractors
- Monitor worker compliance with safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices, and provide coaching where required
- Maintain accurate health and safety records, including training logs, inspection reports, incident reports, and corrective action registers
- Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and support committee initiatives and inspections
- Assist with the development, review, and updating of site-specific safety plans, procedures, and risk assessments
- Liaise with project management, supervisors, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies as required to address safety matters
- Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging worker engagement, reporting of hazards, and continuous improvement
