Store Manager - Full Time (Pet Food)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and pet-passionate Store Manager to lead our pet food nutrition retail location called "The Bone & Biscuit co". This is a leadership role for someone who not only understands the business of pet nutrition — but lives it every day as a proud pet owner. As Store Manager, you will be the face of our store, responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences, building a high-performing team, and driving sales growth through your passion for animal health and wellness. The Store Manager will play a key role in maintaining store profitability, merchandising standards, and fostering a positive shopping environment for customers and staff alike.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise store team members to achieve sales goals and deliver exceptional customer service
- Manage daily store operations including inventory control, merchandising, and cash handling
- Recruit, train, and develop staff to ensure high performance and professional growth
- Implement marketing strategies to increase store traffic and sales
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints efficiently, and promote customer loyalty
- Manage purchasing decisions to optimize stock levels and product assortment
- Utilize POS systems effectively for transactions and reporting purposes
Skills
- Proven experience in retail management or store supervision with strong leadership capabilities
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, bookkeeping, and basic math skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in merchandising, pricing strategies, marketing, and sales management
- Ability to negotiate with vendors and oversee purchasing processes.
- Skilled in recruiting, interviewing, training & development of staff, and supervising teams
- Competent in administrative tasks including payroll processing, budgeting, and record keeping
- Customer service-oriented with professional phone etiquette and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage store operations efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Minimum 3 years in retail management or a supervisory leadership role.
- Deep passion for animal welfare and pet nutrition — as a pet owner yourself
- Knowledge of pet food categories: raw, freeze-dried, grain-free, veterinary, etc.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (pet food bags, supply deliveries).
These are not required but will make your application stand out:
- Certification in pet nutrition, animal health, or a related field
- Experience working in a holistic or specialty pet retail environment
- Social media savvy — ability to promote the store and engage local pet communities
- Background in customer loyalty programs or community events
Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
