Oakville Senior Citizens Residence (OSCR), a charitable non-profit organization serving the Oakville community since 1972, is currently hiring PSW’s for several shifts. If you have a PSW (Personal Support Worker) diploma, we would like to hear from you!
Qualifications: As driving is required, we are looking for individuals with a good driving record who have access to a vehicle and a valid class G license with current insurance, which must be presented.
· Completion of secondary school and a Personal Support Workers certificate.
· Ability to communicate in written and oral English. Standard First Aid Certificate (current) and Basic CPR (current). Knowledge of the physical and mental changes associated with aging. Knowledge of WHMIS legislation and its application to safely use chemicals in the workplace. Knowledge of techniques of good body mechanics to prevent injury. Knowledge of routine practices to prevent the spread of infection. Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle required.
· Six to 12 months of Health Care experience. Able to learn and apply new information.
· Able to perform many types of physical activity – bending, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, none of which are required to be done continuously or for prolonged periods.
· Able to perform varied physical work throughout the shift and on an ongoing basis; lifting floor to wait no more than 23 kg (51 lb), assisted; lifting from waist to shoulder no more than 7 kg (15 lb); carrying no more than 7 kg (15 lb). Bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting as required in carrying out a variety of personal assistance activities.
· Able to work with behaviours and/or disabilities attached to an aging population (i.e.
dementia, Alzheimer’s, mental health, hearing and visual impairments, etc.).
· Able to operate a motor vehicle to attend scheduled and unscheduled client visits.
· Must be courteous and able to work unsupervised. Must be able to work as a team member and with the elderly. Must have a Vulnerable Sector Police Check – not older than 1 year.
Rate of Pay*: $21.20 - $23.92 per hour, including PWE
*PWE is not paid on training hours or on hours paid but not worked
Approximate Start Date: August 1, 2026
Hours: Mix of Days or Evenings and alternate weekends.
You will need to enjoy working with seniors, can provide a clear vulnerable sector search, and possess excellent communication skills when interacting with clients.
