Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic with CVIP certification to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand and power tools, and the ability to work on various types of heavy-duty vehicles and machinery, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm equipment. The successful candidate will ensure all equipment meets safety standards and operates efficiently, providing exceptional service to our clients.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid Alberta Journeyman or Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification.
- Active CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) signing authority license.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience servicing heavy-duty commercial vehicles (experience with motorcoaches or transit buses is highly advantageous).
- Valid Class 1, 2, or 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake (Q) endorsement preferred (Clean abstract with fewer than 6 demerits and no pending suspensions).
- Proficiency utilizing modern electronic diagnostic software and writing clear, detailed job/work order notes.
- Capable of lifting up to 45 lbs (20 kg) daily and working comfortably in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Proficient at reading schematics, technical blueprints, and manufacturer service bulletins.
- Must possess a complete set of personal hand tools.
Primary Duties:
- Inspect, service, and repair a diverse fleet consisting of vans, mini-buses, and full-size coach buses.
- Execute mandatory Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) compliance reviews and routine 30-day fleet maintenance checks under applicable Alberta transport legislation.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and rebuild major mechanical, electrical, and HVAC components.
- Verify all repairs via thorough road testing and system performance evaluations.
- Document all completed actions by signing off on work orders, safety sheets, and preventative maintenance logs.
- Maintain an orderly, hazard-free shop floor and flag any faulty shop equipment or tools immediately.
- Handle occasional yard or shop support tasks as required by operations.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate, negotiable based on experience and credentials.
