Voice Instructor - Northwest Music Academy
Northwest Music Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate voice instructor to join our teaching team starting in September 2026.
We are a small Calgary music studio that values technical excellence, artistic curiosity, and meaningful music education. We're looking for a teacher who shares those values and is excited to help students grow into confident, thoughtful musicians.
About You
The ideal candidate has:
- A Bachelor of Music (or equivalent post-secondary music education), or significant professional performance experience. Those without a degree but with high-level RCM certification instead may also be considered.
- Strong vocal technique and musicianship.
- Basic piano proficiency for accompanying lessons. Additional proficiency in piano or guitar (and the ability to teach those instruments) is an asset.
- A genuine enthusiasm for teaching students of varying ages and abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain musical concepts clearly and patiently.
- Professionalism, reliability, and strong organizational skills.

What You'll Teach
Primary responsibilities include teaching private voice lessons in a contractor capacity. Our students often aim to complete RCM exam, so experience in that is also an asset. Depending on your background, opportunities may also be available to teach:
Teaching Locations
Applicants may choose to teach in one or both of the following settings:
In-Home Lessons
Travel to students' homes within northwest Calgary to provide one-on-one instruction. Instructors receive an additional $15 travel fee per visit made.
Community Centre Studio
Teach from a dedicated lesson space at a local community centre.
Availability, scheduling preferences, and travel considerations will be discussed during the hiring process.
