Fort McMurray Catholic Schools requires a full-time Physical Therapist. This job involves providing physical therapy services for EEP - Gr. 12 students within an inclusive educational environment.
The primary responsibilities will focus on addressing and identifying physical therapy needs by using industry-standard assessment tools. Collaborating and communicating with both the school team and a multi-disciplinary team is essential. Involvement in building capacity with teachers, other educational staff and through parents and family is primary responsibility.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Master of Science in Physical Therapy (or equivalent) with specialized coursework in gross motor assessment and treatment.

Licensure: Must be currently registered and licensed (in good standing) with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Experience: Two or more years of pediatric or school-based experience as a Physical Therapist is considered a strong asset.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace and MS Office is required.

Clearances: A valid and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities

Assessment & Intervention: Administer and interpret standardized assessments to identify students’ gross motor needs and goals

Inclusive Practice: Integrate therapy goals directly into typical classroom routines, directing and modeling "broad-based" strategies that benefit all students.

Collaborative Planning: Work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to develop and monitor Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and to deliver Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) home programming.

Capacity Building: Lead professional development sessions for staff and families to increase awareness and skill sets regarding student mobility and physical health.

Specialized Support: Manage and advise on specialized equipment, including walkers, wheelchairs, and adaptive bicycles.

Community Connection: Foster partnerships within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to support student wellness.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a vulnerable sector check along with a criminal record check. FMCSD may contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate which includes fluency with Google supports and MS Office.
