POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintain new and existing accounts for developers/builders as determines by the Sales Manager. The Estimator will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including materials and labour. Prepare estimates and present tenders for projects by gathering information and analyzing proposal requirements as determined by the Sales Manager. He/she will be tasked with preparing and maintaining a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors, and establishing unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts. This individual's accuracy is critical to the profitability of the business, as under-estimates may cause significant financial losses and over-estimates may result in the inability to win bids. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Maintain and establish customer relationships to ensure mutual satisfaction.
- Provide clients with up to date product knowledge to promote the sale of favorable products and materials, as directed by the Sales Manager.
- Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work.
- Identify labor, material and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, related documents and travel to jobsites to gather information.
- Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Advise on proposal procedures to follow.
- Work closely with purchaser to ensure inventory levels are sufficient for current and upcoming projects.
- Study and analyze proposals received.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
- Keep Sales Manager apprised of current and new projects, and up to date with potential conflicts and areas of concern.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists.
- Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.
- Submit completed tender documents to the Sales Manager for approval.

- Participate in team meetings and training as required by Supervisor
- Complete all paperwork as required by Sales Manager
- Other duties as required by Management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
- (5) Years of experience in cost estimation.
- Experience with Auto-CAD
- Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints and as-builds.
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc.)
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
- Time management skills.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
- Client service and public interaction skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision.
- Collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers.
- Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Spend long periods of time in an office setting, sitting using office equipment and computers
- Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when on production floor- safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection
- May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. of supplies or materials from time to time
