We are a small, very busy, full service law firm in Vaughan, practicing civil litigation, family law, real estate, corporate law, and more. We are looking for a bright and hardworking entry level legal assistant with excellent attention to detail. Some legal office experience required.
This position would suit someone who is able to juggle multiple tasks and stay highly organized while managing tight deadlines for time-sensitive legal files.
Duties include:
- Typing correspondence and dictation;
- Reviewing correspondence, corporate documents, and Estate documents for accuracy, grammar, and spelling;
- Formatting and preparing corporate and estate documents;
- Liaising with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff to schedule conference calls and meetings;
- Preparing retainer agreements, opening new files, and managing file documents (in electronic and paper form);
- Organizing the lawyers’ emails and calendars;
- Assisting with client billing; and
- Filing, faxing, scanning, and copying.
Qualifications:
- Completed university or college degree
- Some previous legal office experience
- Impeccable grammar, spelling, and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience using PC Law or other legal accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organized
- Able to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Type 45 wpm with strong sense of urgency to get things done quickly
