Position Title: Finance Administrator (6 month contract)

Summary:
The Finance Administrator supports the financial management, reporting, and day-to-day financial administration of the Child, Youth & Family Well-Being Services Department. Working closely with leadership, this role ensures financial activities are accurate, well-documented, and aligned with organizational policies, funding agreements, and generally accepted accounting principles.
This position contributes to effective budget management, reporting accuracy, audit readiness, and overall financial accountability, while also supporting continuous improvement of financial processes across the department.
Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation, monitoring, and administration of departmental budgets
- Assist leadership in tracking expenditures, identifying variances, and supporting decisions
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports and general ledger information
- Support completion of financial reports required by funding agencies
- Monitor revenues, funding agreements, and financial obligations
- Perform general accounting duties including journal entries and reconciliations
- Prepare bank reconciliations and ensure accurate financial coding
- Maintain organized financial records, agreements, and documentation
- Assist with annual budgets, year-end processes, and audit preparation
- Collaborate with the Finance Department on reporting and audit requirements
- Support development and improvement of financial systems and controls
- Provide financial guidance and training to staff
- Participate in meetings with leadership and external funders as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and organizational information
- Contribute to financial planning and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- University degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Post-secondary diploma in a related field may be considered
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial administration or accounting
- Experience with budgets, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience with funding agreements and government reporting is an asset
- Experience supporting audits and year-end processes is an asset
- Proficiency with Sage or similar financial accounting software required
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Experience working in a First Nation or public/community sector is an asset
- Valid Class “G” driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Ability to obtain a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
