Sod Installer – Student Position - Andrew Tannus’ Student Lawn Services – Summer 2026
Compensation:
$23/hour
Base Pay = $20/hour (paid hourly for all hours worked)
Your base hourly rate increases the longer you stay (in good standing):
After 320 hours: $21/hr
After 480 hours: $22/hr
Milestone Bonuses (cash)
Milestone bonuses are based on paid hours worked and are paid once you hit each threshold:
160 hours (~1 month): $100
320 hours (~3 months): $200
Season Completion Bonus (Sept 30): $500 (Requires being employed through Sept 30.)

We are a STUDENT-RUN and STUDENT-OWNED local lawn care company. We're looking for highly competitive students (current or recently graduated) who want their hard work to be recognized and adequately rewarded. As a Sod Installer, you’ll be responsible for transforming residential properties by removing old grass, preparing soil, and installing fresh sod—with a clear path to increase your earnings through performance and bonuses.
Reliable Transportation:
- Must have a reliable way to get to our yard
- Work will be performed in a crew truck with company equipment
Physical Capability:
- Comfortable working outdoors in heat, light rain, and changing conditions
- Able to lift and carry heavy materials (sod rolls, soil, etc.) repeatedly throughout the day
- Able to bend, kneel, and move continuously during installs
Time Commitment:
- Available Monday–Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM for the full season (May 1–Sept 31)( If your school schedule does not allow, we may be willing to accommodate a different start/end date or part time hours while school is in session.)

Sod Installation & Site Prep
- Remove existing grass (using sod cutters, shovels, and wheelbarrows)
- Grade and level soil to prepare for new sod
- Lay sod with tight seams, straight lines, and proper overlap
- Ensure every job site is left organized, clean, and professional
Teamwork & Efficiency
- Work as part of a small, fast-paced crew
- Move quickly while maintaining high standards—your performance bonus depends on it
- Follow instructions, stay organized, and help the crew hit daily targets
Customer Service & Professionalism
- Be comfortable interacting with clients in a polite, professional manner
- Represent the company well on-site and in the neighbourhood
- Treat equipment with care and participate in basic daily checks (fuel, cleanliness, etc.)
Skill Development: Learn real-world skills in landscaping and project-based work.
Team Environment: Collaborate with a driven group of students who value success.
