Position Overview
Latem Industries is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Inside Sales Representative to join our team in Cambridge.
In this role, you will serve as the primary internal point of contact for new and existing customers. You will bridge the gap between our customers' production needs and our operations team, managing the quoting process, analyzing part specifications, and driving revenue growth through proactive account management. The ideal candidate possesses a mix of sharp communication skills, strong understanding of lead campaigns and online presence and a strong mechanical aptitude to comprehend complex industrial finishing processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Estimating, Quoting & RFQs
· Manage the end-to-end Request for Quote (RFQ) process for diverse finishing services (e.g., e-coating, powder coating, shot blasting, tumbling, and ultrasonic cleaning).
· Analyze customer blueprints, part drawings, and technical specifications to determine surface area, masking requirements, and processing complexity.
· Collaborate closely with operations, chemistry, and plant management to calculate accurate processing times, material usage (e.g., paint, chemistry, media), and labor costs.
· Utilize internal pricing models and software to generate and deliver highly competitive, accurate, and profitable quotes to customers.
2. Account Management & Customer Solutions
· Act as the main point of contact for incoming sales inquiries via phone, lead generating, email, and walk-ins, providing exceptional technical customer service.
· Qualify inbound leads by identifying the customer's specific finishing challenges (e.g., rust removal, corrosion resistance, paint adhesion, deburring) and recommending the appropriate Latem service.
· Follow up cross-functionally on submitted quotes to secure orders, overcome objections, and understand market pricing trends.
· Proactively reach out to new, dormant or low-volume customers to uncover new volume or shifting production needs.
3. Sales Operations & Production Liaison
· Coordinate with the logistics and production teams to ensure customer delivery timelines, packaging requirements, and quality expectations (e.g., automotive or heavy equipment standards) are met.
· Document all sales activities, generate funnels, communication notes, and customer data accurately within the company CRM/ERP system.
· Assist in troubleshooting customer quality or delivery issues alongside the Quality Assurance department, ensuring swift resolution and excellent relationship retention.
Qualifications & Experience
· Experience: 2–5 years of inside sales, estimating, or customer account management experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or automotive tier-supplier environment. Experience specifically within the metal finishing, heat treating, plating, or coatings industry is highly preferred.
· Technical Aptitude: Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications. Familiarity with metal types (steel, aluminum, cast iron) and finishing concepts is a massive asset.
· Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. You must be comfortable explaining technical processes, negotiating pricing, and handling challenging customer timelines over the phone.
· Software Skills: Proficiency with ERP/CRM systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (for pricing sheets and data tracking).
· Attributes: High organizational skills with the ability to manage 20+ active quoting files simultaneously without losing attention to detail.
The salary is $50,000/year, plus a commission of 2% of any new growth of the gross sales that you acquire. (Does not include recurring sales, acquisition sales, equipment sales or plastico sales) The commission period will be October 1st to September 30th, on an annual basis. The commission will be calculated current year over the previous year and will be paid out annually (with the corresponding vacation pay) on the second pay in October each year.
Latem Industries also offers company paid benefits (dental, prescriptions, vision, massage, mental health etc), a generous uniform allowance, a safety shoe allowance, 3 paid sick days a year, an Employee Reward Program and even a Healthy Living Spending Allowance to support your physical and mental health.
