Kinesiology Laboratory Coordinator / Instructor
Full-time, Temporary 1 -year
POSITION SUMMARY
The Kinesiology Laboratory Instructor provides laboratory instruction for selected Kinesiology courses,
including introductory anatomy and physical activity for health promotion, in collaboration with the faculty
member in charge of the course(s). This role supports faculty in the preparation, coordination, and
supervision of laboratory activities and equipment used for teaching within the University.
The position is also responsible for supervising kinesiology stores, maintaining laboratory equipment, and
coordinating and overseeing kinesiology internships, primarily during the summer term. This role requires a
high degree of independence, organization, creativity, and flexibility.
This is a 1-year position starting Mid- August 2026.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Laboratory teaching in collaboration with a faculty member. Such teaching duties may include
creating teaching resources, assisting students, running help sessions, scheduled office hours, and
marking.
- Participate in and facilitate updating and revising laboratory exercises and manuals, ensuring the
laboratory exercises are responding to the changing needs of the students and of the course.
- A resource for faculty, staff, and students using exercise physiology equipment and safety
procedures, in addition to specific research/testing protocol methodologies.
- Prepare and present the required curriculum thoroughly and effectively.
- Guide students work and cooperate with staff and faculty while establishing a professional
atmosphere.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed in all labs.
- Helping to proctor midterm/final exams as needed.
- Setting up for weekly labs as assigned and overseeing cleanup of the laboratories.
- Supervision of undergraduate student assistants who are appointed to assist the coordinator with
laboratory preparation, teaching, and cleanup.
- Equipment maintenance, calibration, evaluation and recommendation for new equipment.
- Work closely with faculty members and athletics department to ensure optimal coordination of
timetabling, shared lab space, and shared lab equipment.
- Inventory control, tendering and ordering of supplies and equipment for kinesiology.
- Responsible for identifying and itemizing hazardous waste generated in the kinesiology
laboratories.
