Career Contacts is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, Canadian-owned organization with a strong national presence. We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to join their Finance team at their Vancouver head office.
This role is ideal for an analytical payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys working with payroll accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and process improvements. Reporting into the Finance team, you'll work closely with Payroll, Accounting, and Finance while providing backup support for payroll processing and helping drive continuous improvements across payroll operations.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries, accruals, and reclassification entries within Dynamics 365, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Analyze and interpret payroll data from Dayforce to support payroll accounting and financial reporting
- Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet and general ledger accounts, including payroll expenses, deductions, taxable benefits, and statutory remittances
- Review payroll transactions to ensure compliance with company policies and Canadian payroll legislation
- Partner with Accounting and Operations to investigate payroll-related inquiries and explain payroll variances against budgets and forecasts
- Collaborate with the Financial Planning team to support payroll budgeting and financial reporting
- Assist in developing payroll reports, KPIs, and management reporting using Dayforce and Dynamics 365
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, reporting, and system integrations
- Participate in payroll system testing, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain payroll documentation and contribute to best practices that support compliance and data accuracy
- Support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for salaried, hourly, and multi-provincial employees
- Assist with the administration of employee benefits, statutory remittances, and payroll-related audit requirements
- Provide backup support to the payroll team and assist with special projects and other duties as needed
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is considered an asset
- 2–3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably within a high-volume environment
- Previous experience preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is considered an asset
- Experience supporting payroll within a large, multi-entity or multi-location organization is preferred
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, payroll taxes, statutory remittances, and compliance requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret large datasets
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across Finance and Operations
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines
