Job Description
KMA Chartered Professional Accountants is seeking a bright, outgoing individual to join our team. We are looking for a full-time Articling student (CPA Candidate). This is a pre-approved audit path position. You will have completed all of the prerequisites for the CPA Program and are now ready to enter the CPA prep program. This will be a pre-approved assurance and accounting training position. This position starts immediately.
KMA requires a well-rounded individual who can engage with our clients in order to provide service that exceeds expectations. This is a position for an outgoing, client service driven person. You should be a person who enjoys working with clients and others. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, can manage his/her own time and he or she must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.

The successful candidate should possess the following skills and experience:
- The ability to work independently towards goals
- Proven strengths in using Excel and a wide variety of accounting programs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to effectively build lasting relationships with the firm’s clients
- You are a person who understands that there are times you will need to pick up the phone and not just email clients.
This is an in-person position.
At KMA you will develop the following skills:
- The ability to complete financial statements and corporate tax returns.
- The proven capability to work with QuickBooks Online
- The competence to complete Compilation Engagements, Review Engagements and Audit Engagements from beginning to conclusion.
- The knowledge of how to complete all related tax filings from T4’s, T5’s and personal tax returns.
- The skill set needed to complete US personal and corporate returns
- The ability to analyze client problems and develop effective solutions
- The faculty to work in a paperless office. The ideal candidate should be familiar with common industry software such as Caseware, Taxprep and other industry standard products.
We offer competitive remuneration, an extended health benefits plan, and a friendly environment in which to work and learn. Remuneration is dependent on experience. The compensation may range from $50,000 to $60,000.

KMA Chartered Professional Accountants is a growing local North Nanaimo CPA firm. We recently relocated to our new office across from Long Lake. The office has a wide variety of clients, covering manufacturing, services and numerous industry types.
Nanaimo is a city that offers a rich variety of opportunities for an outdoor lifestyle. Hiking, kayaking and many other recreational pursuits allows you to explore Vancouver Island.
The office provides a rich learning environment for students as they are exposed to different clients, a variety of industries and numerous opportunities to learn. In addition to Canadian taxation, the firm also has a significant US tax practice.
KMA is a licensed approved CPA training office.
As a member of the team, you become involved in a wide variety of work, from the audit of companies and societies to tax planning and preparation. You will help clients on a wide variety of issues ranging from cash flow management to day-to-day operations.
