Responsibilities
- Direct traffic flow around construction zones to ensure safety for workers, equipment, and vehicles
- Coordinate with heavy machinery operators including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks to facilitate efficient site movement
- Set up and maintain signage, barriers, and flagging to control access points and alert drivers of hazards
- Monitor construction activities to enforce safety protocols and prevent unauthorized entry
- Assist with utility locating to identify underground services before excavation or paving activities commence
- Communicate clearly with team members and drivers using hand signals or radio devices to coordinate operations
- Conduct regular inspections of traffic control devices and ensure all safety measures are properly maintained
Experience
- Prior experience in construction site management or traffic control roles preferred
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, or dump trucks is highly desirable
- Knowledge of construction processes including paving and site preparation techniques
- Familiarity with utility locating procedures and underground service identification
- Strong understanding of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and traffic management
- Valid certifications in traffic control or flagging are a plus but not mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is expected
- Experience working with Caterpillar machinery or similar heavy equipment brands is advantageous
