Your new role
The Underground Ventilation Technician is responsible for ensuring effective airflow and environmental conditions throughout the underground mine. Working primarily underground on a daily basis, this position conducts routine ventilation surveys, monitors air quality, and supports the ongoing management and maintenance of the site’s ventilation systems. The incumbent will compile weekly ventilation reports, identify deficiencies, and collaborate with the Mine Operations and Technical Services teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards for a safe working environment.
What you'll need to succeed
- Mining Engineering Technician Diploma, Mine Engineering Degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in an underground mining environment, preferably in ventilation or technical services.
- Knowledge of underground ventilation systems, airflow measurement, and gas detection equipment.
- Familiarity with Deswik and Ventsim, or other ventilation modeling software considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of underground mining operations and environmental controls.
- Ability to work independently underground with minimal supervision.
- Physically capable of working in varied underground conditions, walking significant grades, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry and report generation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Detail-oriented, safety-focused, and highly organized
- Valid Class G driver’s licence required; ability to operate a manual vehicle considered an asset.
